Yesterday, Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya told Parliament's Police Portfolio Committee a 36-year-old man had been arrested for the bomb threat at the mosque in De Deur near Vereeniging last month.

It's emerged the suspect previously lived in Verulam near the Imam Hussain mosque where three people were stabbed - earlier this year.

Lebeya has also told the committee at least ten of the KZN cases have been conclusively linked - but no arrests have been made.

Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi says the incidents in KZN and Gauteng are being treated as two separate investigations.

"The suspect has been arrested with the assistance of the community there," he said.

Mulaudzi says the suspect is in custody and will be appearing in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court today.

"That investigation, we believe have been concluded. There's no one that could be linked to this case except for him. The KZN matters are still receiving serious attention," Mulaudzi said.
