Man killed in single vehicle crash in Durban CBD

A man has been killed after a bakkie crashed into a fire hydrant on the corner of Dorothy Nyembe and Dr Pixley KaSeme Streets - the old Gardiner and West Streets.
Five other people, some of whom were sitting on the back of the bakkie, suffered serious to critical injuries.

"Two patients were severely entrapped in the front of the bakkie. Together with the help of the Fire Department, they were cut free using the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment.
"A total of six people were in the vehicle. One person passed away on the scene," Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said.
