Emergency services were called to the incident on Monteith Place, where the man in his late 40's was working yesterday afternoon.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says events leading to the incident are unclear.
"It is believed that a man in his late fourties was building a swimming pool when a slab of concrete collapsed onto him", he said.
"ALS paramedics assessed the man but unfortunately he had sustained major injuries and there was nothing they could do for him and he was declared 'deceased on scene' ", Jamison said.
