Man killed in Berea shooting

A man has been shot dead in a shooting in Durban’s Berea
area.

The man, believed to be in his twenties, was gunned down on Friday night.
Emergency services responded to the incident along King Dinizulu Road (formerly Berea Road) just after 9pm.

Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson says medics arrived at the scene and found two men had been shot in what is believed to have been a hijacking incident.
“One man was assessed and was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. He was declared dead at the scene,” said Jamieson.

The second man was also shot in the upper body.
Jamieson says he was stabilised on scene before being taken to hospital for further care.
The exact circumstances leading up to the shooting are still
unclear and will be investigated by police.
