Man in Durban court for inciting public violence

A man who's alleged to have been behind a voice note inciting public violence is due to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning.

Detectives from the eThekwini District arrested the 36-year-old on Monday.
KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker says they began investigating after the voice message had been widely shared.

He says the recording allegedly provoked members of the public to mobilise and commit acts of violence and damage certain people's property.
"The suspect was identified after a rigorous investigation and was arrested and detained at the Durban Central police station yesterday."
