Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A 21-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being caught in electrical cables while train surfing in Shallcross this morning.

Footage shows the man lying unconscious on the top of a Metrorail train, while sparks fly from electrical cables next to him while a crowd of onlookers scream in shock.
KZN Emergency Medical Service's Rob McKenzie says he was transported to hospital after sustaining burns to his hands.
"Paramedics treated him for critical but stable injuries. They have taken him to hospital for continued medical care."
