Man drowns at KZN south coast beach

A man has drowned at Mtwalume beach on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
Emergency services were called into action at about 1.40pm.
Provincial medical services say the man, believed to be in his early 20s, was pulled from the water by other beachgoers by the time they reached the scene.

KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says provincial and private ambulance services as well as the local Police Search and Rescue Unit responded to the call.
"When they arrived on scene they found that the man had already been removed from the water. When they examined they realised that he had already died and he was declared dead at the scene," he said.

Mckenzie says police are investigating the circumstances leading to the drowning incident.
