Authorities are on the scene of a fatal crash near Mount Edgecombe in Durban.

Emergency services say a man who'd been travelling in a bakkie on the M41 was killed after being struck by a cement truck near Flanders Drive.

The driver of the bakkie was also hurt. Netcare911's Chris Botha says the bakkie was pushed into a concrete barrier.
"When we arrived there, people were still trapped in the crumpled remains of this bakkie. Tragically, a man there - a passenger - died on the scene, due to very severe injuries he sustained. The driver of the bakkie escaped with moderate injuries. He was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further care," he said.
