The Department of Corrections Services has launched an investigation after a man allegedly committed suicide while in custody in Dundee in northern KZN.

The man's body was found in his cell by a warden on Wednesday. He had been serving time for allegedly violating his parole after being sentenced for housebreaking and theft.
Provincial spokesperson, Thulani Mdluli, says the man had written a letter requesting that he be taken back into custody while on parole.
"We too the offender back to his cell so that he may serve out the rest of his sentence or maybe have another option", he said.
"He, however, had written a letter before we could consult him about the conditions of parole the he'd violated", Mdluli said.
