The Ekurhuleni metro police on Tuesday arrested a 36-year-old man found with R1.2 million worth of goods in Putfontien on the East Rand.

Metro police believe the man hijacked a truck transporting the goods in the Elandsfontien area.
Spokesperson Ignatius Maphike says their investigation led them to a field in Putfontien, where they discovered abandoned boxes of potato chips.
“The boxes were positivity identified as those which were intended to be transported by a missing truck,” he says.
“His premises, situated on the same street, were thoroughly searched and additional boxes were uncovered. The handcuffed suspect alleges that the items found were given to him by two unknown guys. The uncovered loot worth R1.2 million was given back to the liable owner.”
The man is facing charges of theft and possible truck hijacking and is due to appear in court soon.
