Man appears in KZN court for copper theft

The Hawks are clamping down on copper theft, with a suspected thief appearing in a northern KwaZulu-Natal court on Thursday.
Officials say members from the Richards Bay Serious Organised Crime Unit arrested the 27-year-old man on Wednesday after they found him in possession of property suspected to be stolen in Vryheid.

They say officers received information about the cable theft and an undercover operation was conducted at Mark Street.
The man was allegedly found with a twenty-meter copper cable which was positively identified by a Vryheid municipal technician.
