Man accused of killing elderly Umgababa women ditches bail bid

The security guard accused of killing two elderly women in Umgababa is no longer pursuing bail.

Sixty-one-year-old Zanele Mbuso and 81-year-old Monica Xulu's bodies were found in a shallow grave near the creche where they worked in August.

They had been reported missing a week earlier.
Thokozani Mhlongo, who also works at the daycare centre, has made his second appearance in Umbumbulu Magistrate's Court.

"The matter appeared in court today (Monday), where the accused abandoned his application for bail. The case is now remanded to the 27th of September for further investigations," said the NPA in KZN’s Natasha Kara.
