Updated | By Shaun Ryan
The long weekend has gotten off to the worst possible start for the family of a 33-year-old man who drowned at South Beach.

Reports from the scene suggest the man got into difficulty in the water before 6am.
Eyewitnesses say a crowd of people gathered on the beach as they saw police search and rescue officers pulling his body from the water.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says officers will be investigating the incident.
"The search and rescue team were called to the scene and they found the man floating in the sea. A case of inquest has been opened at the Point Police Station for further investigation,'' he said.
