The commission says it's seeking clarity from the court on how the section of the Constitution it based its decision to bar Zuma from contesting the elections should be interpreted.

The former president was disqualified due to his 2021 conviction and 15-month prison sentence.

But the MK Party, on whose list he appears, was successful in overturning the IEC decision in the Electoral Court.

Speaking in Sandton on Friday, Malema said the IEC's decision to go to the ConCourt could lead to questions about the electoral commission's integrity.

"If they know there is no case what is going to happen? Why are they doing what they are doing? And some silly mistakes that have been committed by the IEC.

"We have got 110% confidence in the IEC, but they are making so many stupid mistakes in a year where the elections are highly contested, where they are supposed to be perfect. We are going now for 30 years of democracy, they have the necessary experience."
