Major traffic backlog after Durban N3 drive slow
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Ethekwini Metro Police say a group of protesters who have brought traffic to a standstill on the N3 into Durban have now pulled off the highway.
Traffic has been a nightmare this afternoon for some motorists with the busy highway gridlocked for the past two hours.
The drive slow started after trade union federation Cosatu staged a protest against e-tolls at the Mariannhill toll plaza an noon.
Some got into their cars and began driving at 10 km per with their hazards on.
The provincial secretary of COSATU says he cannot confirm if it is their members who are causing the slow traffic on the N3 leaving Mariannhill Toll Plaza towards Durban.
"I haven't received that report yet but I did see some traffic on the road backing up but I didn't know what was happening. I can't really jump to any conclusion and take decision on something I really don't know about," he said.
