Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
Build One SA leader Mmusi Maimane has called for an arrest in a child sexual assault case in Newlands East.
"I want to commit here: If the police are not willing to conduct a private investigation, we will conduct one, find the finances for it, find the [suspect], and bring him to justice."
Residents in the suburb north of Durban are in uproar over the rape of the 1-year-old, alleged to have happened while she was creche.

Maimane joined a protest outside the police station on Thursday and handed over a memorandum to a representative there.
"What we are here to call for is an investigation into this issue of this child who was raped at a nursery school. We send our kids there not to be raped, and furthermore, we presented a memorandum to say how do we capacitate police.
