Mabuza urges Africa to improve healthcare systems
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Deputy President, David Mabuza says the continent cannot address the Covid and HIV/ AIDS crises, without making improvements to healthcare and strengthening access to delivery systems for the poor.

"It beholds our governments and leaders to ensure more health facilities are built in underdeveloped areas to ensure that the poor and all those who feel marginalised, can access treatment and care."
Mabuza made the appeal to delegates at the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) in Durban.
He also brought issues of healthcare inequities and structural exclusion to the fore.
Mabuza delivered the opening remarks as chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council on Monday night.
"Our response to HIV and AIDS, TB and Covid-19 must be intertwined with our efforts to address underdevelopment, poverty and inequalities as determinants of poor health outcomes across the continent."
