In December, Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country would not experience load shedding until 13 January.

However, Stage 2 load shedding was implemented from last weekend.
Mabuza says Eskom needs to prioritize maintenance.
"You can's say there won't be any load shedding if there is no effective maintenance of these power generation plants".
"So the problem that is facing Eskom is the maintenance of these power stations, some are old of cause. We must rebuild new power stations, of cause we must get the new ones running to full capacity, he said.
