M19 reopens following protest action

Authorities in eThekwini say the M19 carriageway has been reopened to motorists, following protest action in Reservoir Hills this morning.
Residents from the uMkhudwini informal settlement blocked the route with burning tyres and other debris.

They were demanding building material they claim the City promised them after 200 homes were destroyed in a fire last week.
eThekwini Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad says the crowd has dispersed.
"The roadway is finally opened, all cleanup operations have taken place, the fires are finally out and both carriageways - traffic is flowing freely."
