Uber for luggage? Africa's Travel Indaba showcases latest tech

Africa's Travel Indaba in Durban has showcased how technology's making tourism more convenient.
The government-owned entity, the Technology Innovation Agency, has been identifying initiatives in the travel and tourism space.
The agency's Dr Anitha Ramsuran they have been supporting a young innovator who's come up with a service called Bag Drop.

She says it allows travellers who have checked out early at their hotel to have their luggage taken care of until they have to catch their flight.
Ramsuran says this gives tourists the opportunity to sightsee a little more without having to lug around heavy bags.
"These create a system where you could lodge your bag with Bag Drop and when you are ready for your flight Bag Drop will deliver your bag to the airport. So it is an Uber for bags.

"Not have it be for the solutions you would have a lot of people missing on some very interesting tourist destinations because they have this bag. He currently has 1 200 users on the system."
