Low voter registration turnout at Umlazi T-Section causes early closure
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
While it has been fairly smooth sailing in parts of KZN in day 1 of voter registration, this was not the case at Umlazi township's T-Section where an unexpected low voter turnout saw the registration process cut short.

The Glebelands Hostel and the T-section Hostel voter registration centres were shut early last night due to a disappointing voter turnout.
Next to the voting station at the T-section Hostel are RDP flats which have become an eye sore as they have been vacant for at least three years.
Residents claim that people from outside the area began moving in, angering locals who later who later forced them out.
The modern flats have now been vandalised. Locals have vowed that no one, except them, will occupy these flats.
They say they are tired of being treated as a separate entity from the township of Umlazi when it comes to service delivery and voting is important to them in this regard.
