Local Elections' date announced

The 2016 Municipal Elections will take place on the 3 August.
The date was announced by President Jacob Zuma earlier.
In a statement, the presidency says the Minister of Cooperative Governance, David Van Rooyen, will proclaim the date.
Presidency spokesperson, Bongani Majola says President Zuma is encouraging all South Africans who are eligible to vote, especially the youth, to register.
“We urge all those who are eligible to vote register to vote and those who have not checked their names to do so on Saturday and Sunday this weekend so that together we continue to re-affirm and deepen our democracy,” Zuma said.

The final voter registration drive takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier today, the Independent Electoral Commission said it was hoping to add many more eligible voters to the voters' roll.
