Local communities key in climate change fight
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A Recycling company owner says fighting climate change and pollution begins with educating communities.
Andrew Venter, CEO of Wild Trust, was speaking at the Wildlands conservation trust in Howick, that uses recycling waste to produce bricks and bio-fuel.
He says through their community based operations they are not only creating employment but also raising awareness about the role of humans in saving the environment.
"Waste is something that we believe should just be thrown away in our country. We do not understand the environmental impact of that and how it pollutes our rivers and the environment", he said.
"I believe each individual will start a mini shift at home where they are more conscious of waste", Venter said.
