Members of the Economic Transformation Sub-committee of the ANC briefed the media on issues affecting the economy on Saturday.

The party's National Executive Committee is meeting in Boksburg on Gauteng's East Rand this weekend.

Ramokgopa says the Eskom is sitting at an improved 60% energy availability factor.

"Overall, I think we are surpassing our expectation in relation to the performance of the units. We are more than confident that we should be able to survive the winter and will not experience the worst-case scenario as we had projected," said Ramokgopa.

The minister says Eskom had mobilised some of the best generation experts and deployed them to the worst performing power stations.

"We will continue to see the improvements and I’m very confident that loadshedding will be behind us very soon, and then we will begin work on creating additional buffer reserve margins to allow the economy to grow at a desired level."
