Load shedding should end this year, insists Mashatile
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Deputy President Paul Mashatile has reiterated his belief that the government's plans will ensure an end to load shedding this year.
Mashatile insists the statement is not a political ploy ahead of the May elections but rather a reality drawing closer.
He delivered a lecture on 30 years of democracy at the University of Johannesburg on Tuesday morning.
He said the government will be introducing several energy-generating projects into the mainstream.

"There is a national plan to ensure load shedding is ended this year. I know you don't believe me.
“They think I am electioneering, but it is true. That is why I am not saying it will end before the elections. I am saying this year. The minister of electricity has been working very hard."
