Load shedding restricting water supply
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Umgeni Water says load shedding is restricting its ability to supply water to various communities in the province.

The country finds itself caught up in the middle of the latest bout of power cuts with Stage Four blackouts experienced most of this week. Umgeni Water says this has affected operations as electricity is needed to pump water from dams to other areas.
Spokesperson Shami Harichunder says this has had an impact on a number of areas, including eThekwini.
"Water is usually supplied from the Midmar dam to various points, including Howick West. What has happened is that once water gets to Howick West it is then pumped to Hilton, from there to Vulindlela and to Mpophomeni", he said.
"Among other things we have discovered there are problems relating to supply from Durban Heights", Harichunder said.
"Durban Heights is in Reservoir Hills and is the main source of water supply to much of eThekwini", he said.
