Load shedding a possibility over the weekend, warns Eskom
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali, and Jacaranda FM News
Eskom says the chance of loadshedding remains high for this afternoon - and into the weekend.
The power utility issued alerts for possible blackouts yesterday as well, but the lights remained on.
It says it needs to replenish its emergency water and diesel reserves in order to limit the possibility of rolling blackouts next week.
Eskom's chief operations officer, Jan Oberholzer says the system is currently overloaded.
"The system is extremely tight and we do whatever we can to ensure that we don't have load shedding. We may be perhaps forced to implement but we trust that it will not be needed," Oberholzer said.

Customers have been advised to use electricity sparingly and check their loadshedding schedules on their municipal or Eskom's website.
