Power utility Eskom has released an unchanged outlook for today's load shedding status.

Eskom says there is a low probability of rotational load shedding today as a result of power station units being returned to the system. However, the possibility of blackouts will increase during the peak period between 5pm and 9pm tonight.

"Should rotational load shedding be implemented, it would be for a period up to four hour," Eskom said in a statement.

The parastatal says it will inform customers which stage is implemented, if the lights are turned off.

"We continue to encourage residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly to ease the demand. Please switch off geysers during the day especially during peak periods as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand," urged Eskom.
