A Durban woman who tried to save a 25-year-old man who drowned in canal near Durban's Ushaka Marine World on the weekend, says he didn't seem to be struggling at first glance.

Justin Hofman from Umkomaas drowned while in the three-metre deep canal yesterday morning.
It's understood he'd just left a nearby nightclub - but's it's not yet clear if he'd intentionally gone for a swim.
Hofman's body was retrieved by search and rescue teams yesterday.
