LISTEN: Mozambique attacks robs KZN father of seeing kids grow up
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A heartbroken KwaZulu-Natal mother says her son, who tried to escape from armed fighters in northern Mozambique, suffered a violent and unnecessary death.

"There is no way to possibly describe what you feel when you hear news like that. It's just devastating, shocking, body-numbing, mind-numbing."
40-year-old Adrian Nel from Glenwood was working in Palma with his father and brother -- when gunmen apparently linked to ISIL -- stormed the gas hub last week.
The government says dozens of people were killed in the coordinated attacks, thousands were evacuated to safety and groups of terrified workers fled to the Amarula Palma hotel.
Nel's mother, Meryl Knox says her husband and their two sons were holed up in the hotel for two days.
Adrian, a father-of-three, was shot while they were making their way to a convoy of cars that'd come to evacuate them.
"Absolute best father that any child could wish for. Full of fun, always patient with the children and this is the hardest part that he is not around to see his kids grow up."
International Relations meanwhile says it's trying to locate other South Africans affected in Mozambique.
