Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Protesters have taken to the streets in Shallcross this morning - demanding for the release of two suspects facing arson-related charges from police custody.

Residents say nearly 40 people, believed to be from a nearby informal settlement, began demonstrating early this morning on Chiltern Road.
They have blockaded the roadway preventing community members from being able to get to work or school.
The roads affected include Shallcross Main Road, Chiltern Road, and Blundell Road.
SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the angry community members are calling for the release of two residents, aged 23 and 26, who were arrested on charges of arson.
"Residents from the informal settlement began protesting on Chiltern Road. It's alleged that residents were angry about the two suspects that were arrested during the early hours of this morning for arson that occurred in December - calling for their release. The two residents will appear in the magistrate's court next week," she said.
