Liquor traders council warn members not to let guard down amid third wave fears
Updated | By Algoa FM
The National Liquor Traders Council is calling on its members not to let their guard down as Covid-19 infections are showing a worrying upward trend.

It says it's been working closely with the liquor industry to drive maximum compliance with safety protocols.
Council convener, Lucky Ntimane, says this includes roping in Community Policing Forum members to check that drinking spots are following regulations.
He says the industry has pulled together to improve behaviour so that they can trade safely and protect livelihoods.

"As liquor traders, we continue to work with relevant authorities including SAPS and liquor boards to keep our housing in order and hope that government will continue to work with us in good faith.
"It really would be a tragedy if we allow the third wave to take hold as a result of complacency just as an accelerated vaccination programme seems within reach."
