Liquor industry rallies against GBV
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
The liquor industry supports the promotion of limited drinking.

It says the abuse of alcohol can play a role in gender based violence. Yesterday, the industry rolled out a GBV dialogue in local taverns in the province to help combat the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide.
Industry role players visited Umlazi township yesterday and they are in Kwa-Mashu today and will be headed to iNanda tomorrow.
The industry's Lucky Ntimane says in its efforts to promote safe drinking, it met with 28 men in Umlazi and formed a tavern committee to represent victims of GBV due to alcohol abuse.
He says taverns are cornerstones of the township economy and they should be champions in the fight against GBV in their communities.
"The message spread onward to ensure that it permeates in all corners of society", Ntimane said.
"Men are opening and sharing their concerns and what needs to be done by themselves and encouraging family members", he said.
