The union claims some of its members were attacked by Numsa members in Pietermaritzburg recently, when they tried to enter the premised of a company during a recruitment drive.

Spokesperson Vusumuzi Bhengu says they have dealt with similar incidences in the past.

''Previously it has been isolated incidences and currently we're dealing with a similar situation where our members are continuously intimidated by Numsa members and Shop stewards.

''We have been informed that these instructions have reached the head office,'' he said.

NUMSA's Castro Ngobese has rubbished the allegations.

''No such incident took place therefore we see this as part of their propaganda campaign to tarnish the public reputation and public image of Numsa,'' he said.

Numsa was expelled from Cosatu last year.
