Lights out tonight as Eskom implements loadshedding stage 2
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Rotational power cuts return this afternoon. Eskom has confirmed that they will implement stage 2 loadshedding from 5pm tonight until 11pm on Friday.

Eskom says its infrastructure
is severely constrained after they suffered a loss of generation capacity.
The power utility says it will have to replenish emergency generation reserves from today.
This reserve has rapidly depleted overtime.

“Continued poor performance at the Kusile, Duvha and Tutuka Power Stations, as well as delays in returning some other units to service and breakdowns over the last week, have caused the need to implement this loadshedding,” a statement said.
Eskom currently has 6 212MW on planned maintenance, while another 11 217MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns and delays.
The power utility are yet to confirm if loadshedding will continue into the weekend.
