Life sentences for two accused in Estcourt cannibalism case
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
The two men who were found guilty in the Estcourt cannibalism case, have both been sentenced to life in prison.
Last August, traditional healer Nino Mbatha walked into the Estcourt police station and told the officers on duty he was tired of eating human flesh.
He and his co-accused, Lungisani Magubane, were on Monday convicted of murdering a 24-year-old local woman, Zanele Hlatshwayo, for muthi.
A third co-accuse, Khayelihle Lamula, was acquitted.

Judge Peter Olsen handed down sentence in the Pietermaritzburg High Court, yesterday.
"The National Prosecuting Authority in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the sentence. We really hope that this will send out a deterrence message - that matters of this nature translate to prejudice. We will prosecute without fear, favour, or prejudice," spokesperson for the NPA in KZN, Natasha Kara said.
