LGBTQIA+ community in KZN ‘feeling unsafe’ after murder of Anele Bhengu
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A local NGO
says more needs to be done to stop discriminatory attacks against the LGBTQIA+
community.
TransHope has been reacting to the murder of Anele Bhengu, whose body was found in Kwamakhutha, south of Durban, on Sunday.
The 21-year-old had been raped and stabbed in a suspected hate crime.

Police are still investigating the motive.
TransHope's Ntobizonke Dladla says violent crimes against the gender-diverse community in KwaZulu-Natal have been on the increase.
Recently, KwaZulu-Natal man Sphamandla Khoza was also killed, apparently been bullied over being gay.
"Right now, we are finding ourselves being killed and vulnerable, especially when the manner of how she was killed is really very frustrating because it shows that these people have the motive and had the audacity of doing this and this is what we categorise as a hate crime,” says Dladla.
"So for me personally, I really question how safe I am going out there within the community."
Anele Bhengu (22) was found raped, throat slit & brutally stabbed to a point where her intestines were hanging out of her stomach in Kwamakhutha South of Durban.
