'Level 1 does not mean everything is over', warns Mkhize

Health Minister
Zweli Mkhize has warned that South Africa will only avoid a second wave of
Covid-19 infections if everyone continues to act in a responsible manner.

Monday marked the start of level 1 lockdown regulations, which allows South Africans more freedom and sees the resumption of more economic activities.
But Mkhize warns that the country is not yet out of the woods.
"We have about
10 000 people who test positive per week, and we also know there are more than
the 10 000 because the numbers are much higher.
"We are now searching for the vaccine, but before we get the vaccine we
can't rest. So South Africans need to know that level does not mean everything
is over."

Mkhize said while the country is now in the post-Covid-19 world, there could be
a second surge in infections.
“We are on our way towards normality, except the normality is going to be very
different now because we won't be able to move from our day-to-day lives.
"The use of masks, sanitizing, distancing are still going to be part of our lives because we haven't gone out of the problem yet.
"We still have the virus amongst us and the real question is for us to always be alert and not see a resurgence like we have in other countries," he said.
