Let's work together to beat Covid-19: Prof Karim

The co-chair of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Covid-19 says the only way to conquer the pandemic is if everyone works together.

Professor Abdool Karim was speaking at UKZN's Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine - while reflecting on the past year and highlighting key issues relating to the coronavirus.
Today is the eve of South Africa marking one year since the first case was detected.

"When you are dealing with a threat of this nature, you have to take the disease serious and you have to act timelessly.
"You have to make difficult decisions bravely and the importance of pro-active planning, early implementation and being truthful and proactive in communicating. The Covid-19 response has had its errors, it's problems and abuses."
Professor Karim, who's one of the leading scientists around the pandemic - also got his jab at St. Augustines Hospital.
