Lectures suspended until next week across all UKZN campuses

Last week, students demonstrated against a possible 2017 fee increase, the state of residences and student financial aid among other things.

Lectures were then suspended with classes meant to have resumed yesterday.

UKZN's SRC secretary Philani Ntshobeni says they agreed to put learning on hold so they could focus on sorting out outstanding issues.

“We’ve managed to win one point each of which will allow students to register while they’re still owing [outstanding fees]," he said.

He says students should use this time to study so that when lectures resume - they will be better prepared for exams.

UKZN spokesperson, Lesiba Seshoka was not immediately available for comment.

University management this morning issued a statement saying  the academic programme would resume on Monday, August 29, 2016.
