Lawyers drop Jacob Zuma ahead of corruption trial set for May
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Former President Jacob Zuma is being dropped by his lawyers.
It comes less than a month before the former president and French Arms company, Thales, go on trial for alleged fraud, corruption and money laundering relating to the multi-million rand arms deal.
Mabuza Attorneys filed a notice in the Pietermaritzburg High Court this morning saying they plan on withdrawing from the former president's corruption trial.
It's not known if the withdrawal will impact the start of the hearing - set for the 17th May.

NPA spokesperson, Sipho Ngwema has confirmed the prosecutions body has received notice.
He says the State remains ready to proceed with the trial.
Last week, the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed Zuma's appeal of a 2018 high court ruling - that declared the state wasn't liable to pay the legal costs in his corruption case.
The SCA has ordered him to pay back at least R15 million spent by the State.
