Launch of credit-card style driver’s licence hit by delays
Updated | By Newswatch
South African motorists will have to wait a bit longer for the launch of the new credit-card style driver’s licence.

The Transport Department was expected to start phasing out the current driver’s licence card from April this year.
But there's a delay, and it's unclear when the project will start.

Spokesperson Collen Msibi says they don't yet have the machine to print the new cards.
"The reason for the delay is the fact that the tender process that we had undertaken was a 'non-award'. In other words, we could not find a suitable service provider to undertake this work in terms of printing the new driver's licence card."
