Late judge Thembile Skweyiya 'a peacemaker'
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng described Thembile Skweyiya as a peacemaker.
The 76-year-old former anti-apartheid lawyer passed away on Tuesday, following a short illness.
He was laid to rest in Durban yesterday. Speaking at his funeral service, Mogoeng said while it is time for mourning, it is also a time for introspection.
"He was a difference-maker. Should we not own up to our responsibilities as set out in the preamble and look for what to do in the same way that Justice Skweyiya did?...A go-to lawyer", Mogoeng said.
