Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The mayors of Ladysmith and Newcastle are expected to learn their fate soon.

The African National Congress (ANC) says it's dealing with the matter internally after Ladysmith's Vincent Madlala was charged with defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of firearms.
Newcastle's Ntuthuko Mahlaba faces charges of assault, damage to property and theft.

"We have requested reports on those regions. Reports will inform what kind of action we take on those individuals," the ANC's provincial spokesperson Nhlakanipho Ntombela says.
"We are aware even panel selecting candidates for local government, chaired by comrade Kgalema Motlanthe, has made it clear that those who have pending charges or has been prosecuted for found guilty must be removed from the ANC list.
"So those are all the processes the organisation is dealing with as of now."
