Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
The mayor of Alfred Duma Municipality wants the police to intensify their investigation into the murder of six people in Ladysmith.

The victims, including two young children, were gunned down earlier this week while travelling on Helpmekaar Road.
Police say another car pulled up to the bakkie they were in and opened fire.
Two men and three more women survived the shooting.

Mayor Zama Sibisi says the community now lives in fear after the murders.
He has called for calm.
"I think it is the first time where the whole family was shot dead. It frightened the whole community, and we are appealing to the police to work day and night in order to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book."
