Labour authorities, investigator join probe in fatal Durban collapse
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
The company that owns the building that collapsed in Jacobs says it's appointed an independent investigator to work with KZN labour officials to probe the disaster.
Three construction workers were crushed to death, while five others were badly hurt, when a portion of the double-storey building on Chamberlain Road collapsed yesterday afternoon.
Imperial Logistics says it understands that a single wall that formed part of the two story structure came down while the men were working next to it.

The company has released a statement saying the structure was going to be a store.
The supply chain management has also offered its condolences to the three people who died yesterday.
SAPS search and rescue members worked for hours to remove their bodies from the broken slabs of concrete.
Five workers were taken to hospital in a serious condition. One of them critically.
The cause of the collapse is not yet known at this stage.
