Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Labour Department says it's launched a full-scale investigation into yesterday's deadly building collapse in Jacobs.
Three construction workers were killed and five others were hurt when a section of the double story building came down - crashing onto workers below.
"We have sent two occupational health and safety inspectors to investigate the cause of the incident. If we do determine that anyone contravened the Occupational Safety Act or its regulations - we will be recommending that they be prosecuted," Lungelo Mkamba said.
Meanwhile, eThekwini says incidents of this nature cannot be accepted.
Mayor Zandile Gumede has sent her condolences to the families of the workers who lost their lives saying a thorough investigation needs to be conducted.
