KZN's southern coastline will be safe for bathers during holidays - Kaunda
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda. says he's pleased with the progress the city's making to replace old pump stations damaged in last year's floods.
The sewer pump stations on Durban's southern coastline are being repaired after beaches like Warner and Winkelspruit were contaminated.
During an oversight visit to Isiphingo and Amanzimtoti beaches on Monday, Kaunda said that he's confident that most of Durban's beaches will be fully operational and safe for bathers at the start of the festive season.

"The beaches of the south are critical when it comes to the injection that they have for the tourism sector, those beaches attract more numbers during the festive season. So they've been closed because of the sewer leakages through the failure of our pump stations.
"Today we conducted a visitation to two pump stations that are servicing the area of the south. We are convinced that the communities will enjoy their holiday, our locals and visitors as well."
