MEC Nomagugu Simelane says the province is still at the bottom of the list of
people who have been vaccinated in the country.
Simelane made the remarks in Pietermaritzburg yesterday at the launch of the Global V.A.X campaign.
The US government has donated R800 million for the campaign to be launched here and its main objective is to contribute to the goal to vaccinate 70% of the global population against the deadly Covid-19.
Health Minister Joe Phaahla and Deputy Minister Sibongiseni Dhlomo were among those in attendance on Friday.
Simelane said they have been worried about KZN's vaccination stats.

"So this support is going to assist with other initiatives that we have in the province. As the minister indicates, once we get into someone's household they raise certain issues and they want that human touch and that explanation of what it means and its effects.
"Half the time when you engage with people you find they are willing, they just needed someone to hold their hand and be able to vaccinate. We believe that with this programme that has been launched in our province, it will help us to assist with more outreach programmes."
