KZN youth list their needs ahead of ANC manifesto launch

As the ANC gears up for the launch of its election manifesto in Durban on Saturday, KZN youth say they want workable action plans instead of just another list of promises.

It's the ruling party's turn to fill up Moses Mabhida Stadium and share its service delivery plans with the nation.

“I want to hear a plan of action to decrease the high number of graduates who are unemployed, as yearly institutions are producing more graduates; things are truly difficult for many of these graduates,” said one woman from Tongaat.

“What is the plan to decrease violence? The manifesto is in KZN, local businesses can get to benefit, hopefully they can get a chance to provide services."

Andile Tsotetsi of Hammarsdale says he's expecting President Cyril Ramaphosa to address critical issues like load shedding and the ongoing water outages in parts of KZN.

"Honestly I don't think I'm expecting much however on this upcoming manifest I would like them to touch base on fiscal issues such as load shedding, it has affected us emotionally, financially. But as much as they have been saying they will create jobs for us for the past 30 years, I'm not sure that I will take whatever they say to heart."

Khwezi Cele from Pietermaritzburg says she's only interested in the ANC delivering on the promises made.

"All South Africans are expecting something different from what we're used to hearing especially during elections, we want their words to be put into action. We cannot be told about job creation when unemployment rises now and again. The important part results of their promises."
